An MSF team member present a Syrian couple Mohammed and Nur Baqi, holding their two month-old baby boy named Gazal (who had symptoms of an infected umbilical cord) with some clothing for the child. The family was  traveling to Europe through Idomeni. MSF medical team worked at Idomeni, Greece, where several thousand people were stranded in November until December 9, when police transported them en masse to Athens. Many were unable to cross into Macedonia due to nationality restrictions put in place by several Balkan nations. Meanwhile many thousands of Syrians, Afghans and Iraqis passed through the border each day after having their documents checked by Macedonian border police.
